Stanly County EMS is Hiring Part Time Paramedics/EMT's

Our approximately 400 sq. mile service area is bordered by Badin Lake and Lake Tillery with an estimated population of 67,000. SCEMS responds to over 16,000 calls per year. Stanly County EMS utilizes aggressive Region I protocols and top of the line equipment. We have 4 EMS Bases and 6 Units located in Albemarle, Norwood, Red Cross and New London. A new EMS Main Base was completed in November and is in full operation. All front line ambulances are new. 2 full time Community Paramedics. Stanly EMS offers opportunities to participate on specialty teams with NC SMAT III, Tactical Medics, Swift Water, SAR and the SPEAR Team. Our service works a 24/72 hours schedule which will provide you with an excellent work/life balance.

Job Description

An employee in this class performs emergency medical procedures at the certified level, performing professional advanced life support work in operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims, and performing advanced emergency care, including administering life-sustaining treatment to patients on-site and while en route to the area hospitals. Work involves responding to the scene of an emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons, and transporting persons to a medical facility.  Employees serve as response unit members and are responsible for the medical care administered to the patient.  Work requires considerable independent judgment in assessing the condition of patients and applying short-term relief. Employees are exposed to the typical hazards of emergency rescue work, including the risk of exposure to human body fluids and infectious diseases; thus, the work is subject to the OSHA requirements for bloodborne pathogens.  Work is performed in accordance with established EMT and medical procedures and under departmental and local medical director-approved protocols.  Pay is based on what certification level:  emergency medical technician (paramedic, intermediate, basic)


Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency 

Possession of North Carolina EMT certification  OR National Registry EMT certification to qualify for the legal recognition process is required. 

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a pre-employment drug testing, background check, and Fitness for Duty assessment. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared
Participation in the County Drug and Alcohol Screening program is required.
