Based in Columbus NC, Polk County EMS is looking to add seven full-time Paramedic positions, as well as several part-time Paramedic, AEMT and EMT positions.
Polk County is a rural county in Western North Carolina with approximately 21,000 year- round residents in addition to many seasonal residents and visitors throughout the year. Polk County has become a desirable destination for nature enthusiasts, with many beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails. In addition to our natural attractions, Polk County is home to the Tryon International Equestrian Center.
Polk County EMS is a small community-based EMS System providing 911 coverage for the entire county. In addition to providing 911 coverage, Polk County EMS has recently added a Community Care Paramedic Program, plus special event coverage and inter-facility transfers from the local critical access hospital. Polk County EMS responded to nearly 4,000 requests for service last year.
EMS staff works 12 hour shifts, rotating days and nights every two weeks.
