Onslow County Paramedic - Full Time and Part Time

Job Description

Onslow County EMS is part of the Onslow County-Camp Lejeune EMS System. Onslow County EMS responds to over 24,000 911 calls each year from fixed stations located throughout the County. The EMS System utilizes progressive clinical protocols, including whole blood administration and DAI, to provide the highest level of prehospital care. The EMS system is supplemented by fire department first responders and a growing Community Paramedic program. Onslow County provides paid training for all staff based on System trends, quality metrics and NREMT criteria. Employees have multiple pathways for advancement and can join several specialty teams including event medicine and swift water rescue.


Position Responsibilities

Responds to emergency calls and provides emergency medical care in accordance with established guidelines and written verbal instructions from physicians.

Determines extent of illness or injury and establishes priorities for required care.

Transmits vital patient information and telemetry data to receiving medical care facility.

Observes patient in route and administers additional care as needed. Inspects advanced life support and telemetry equipment daily and ensures proper maintenance and operating conditions and inventories supplies.

Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer.

Performs related tasks as required.


Education, Experience, and Special Requirements

High school diploma or GED with coursework in emergency medical services, or related field and moderate experience as a paramedic, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina Possession and maintenance of current certificates issued by the State of North Carolina for Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic) or have the ability to achieve reciprocity.
