    • APP will be enrolled in course by April 12th
    • North State Medical Transport, paired with our CP-C program partner will ensure the APP’s readiness to take the national test in a timely manner.

Base Requirements 


  • Current North Carolina EMT-Paramedic Certification 
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a Paramedic with an Advanced Life Support Emergency Response agency (does not have to be with a single agency) 
  • ACLS certification required; PALS and PHTLS certifications preferred 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license 


Preferred Background (not required) 


  • Associates degrees in Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, or a related field preferred 
  • CP-C Certification (Not certified? No problem. See “compensation” regarding credential acquisition) 


Scope of Duties, Responsibilities, and Roles  


  • Assist with patient admission into Virtual Hospital while at an in-home setting 
  • Operates in a rapid response role as needed by Virtual Hospital program patients 
  • Safely maintains and operated rapid response vehicle 
  • Facilitates with in-home telehealth visits and provide assistance as needed during visit. Including, but not limited to, medication education and delivery, lab specimen collection and drop off, and clinical support. 
  • Provides integrated health services and proactive care that is intended to help improve the overall health and wellness of the program participants. Requires excellent rapport, understanding, and communication with patients and their family members. 
  • Clinical assessments and tasks may include:
    • Full Cardiopulmonary, Neurologic, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Integumentary, and Musculoskeletal patient assessments 
    • Diagnostic procedures such as COVID-19 testing, EKG, blood glucose, ultrasound, etc. 
    • Vascular access and medication administration 
    • Wound care and maintenance 
  • Performs all duties in a safe, courteous, confidential and professional manner; Always taking into account the well-being of the patient and personal safety 
  • Uses safety and PPE equipment as required by law and company policies 
  • Protects the privacy of patients at all times and in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies 


Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  


  • Exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills 
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with associates, enrollees, providers, and the public 
  • High level of diplomacy and discretion, with ability to effectively negotiate and resolve issues with minimal assistance  
  • Highly effective communication ability, both oral and written 
  • Ability to exemplify a positive, solution-focused attitude and approach to problem solving 
  • Ability to adapt to change and change focus of his/her activities to meet changing priorities 
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including suction units, intravenous infusions, syringes and medications, in-home telehealth technology, cardiac monitors/defibrillators/pacers, etc. Must be able to exert up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
