Macon County EMS is a progressive EMS System proudly serving 30-60,000 people living in an area of 517 square miles in the beautiful Western North Carolina Mountains. We operate out of 3 stations and have 5 Paramedic level Med Units and a Paramedic/Supervisor staffed QRV. We have both a 24/48 and 24/72 schedule option. Our average annual call volume is 7,500.

Our crews are encouraged and expected to function as highly skilled clinicians under a liberal set of protocols. All of our trucks have Stryker Power-Pro stretchers and Stryker Power-load systems. We participate in the Advanced Cardiac Resuscitation system and utilize Zoll X- series monitor/defibrillators and our front line trucks are equipped with Auto-pulse automated chest compression devices. Our trucks are equipped with Cradlepoint wireless routers to facilitate digital transmission of patient data. All of our Emergency Services agencies utilize VIPER radios for enhanced communications and interoperability.

Our staffing model includes a Shift Supervisor and Paramedic Field Training Officer on each shift, we have a very robust Community Care Paramedic Program, a Public Education and Events team, Tactical Medics, Uniform committee and a Student Mentor team.

We are looking for highly motivated Paramedics, AEMT’s and EMT’s to join our team and we have both full and part time positions available. The salary ranges for all three credential levels in full-time positions, based on a 40-hour week and also total annual gross pay for both 24/48 and 24/72 schedules are listed below. Total annual gross pay includes scheduled OT, 12 paid annual holidays and "Premium Pay" of an additional $2/hour to be provided through October 20, 2024 for every 6 full months of employment. Part-time employees receive the same hourly rate and candidates are also given consideration for previous work experience when determining starting rate of pay. 

EMT Salary Range:    $32,926-$49,389 annual ($15.83-$23.74/hr)  Total Annual Gross 24/72: $42,721.41  24/48: $53,422.36

AEMT Salary Range: $36,301-$54,432 annual ($17.45-$26.18/hr)   Total Annual Gross 24/72: $46,674.06  24/48: $58,471.88

Medic Salary Range: $40,022-$60,033 annual ($19.24-$28.86/hr)    Total Annual Gross 24/72: $51,031.92  24/48: $64,039.07
