EMS Director / Chief - Hoke County EMS


Plans, develops, directs, supervises and coordinates all functions related to delivery of Emergency Medical Services and ALS Program support within the authorized Health System service area. The work involves determining and evaluating related organization goals and objective, budgeting of supply and manpower needs, as well as, facility and equipment requirements. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, CMS standards, medical protocols, and department operating procedures.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience, preferably in high call volume EMS service. Successful completion of National Incident Management System 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 courses. EMS specific leadership training such as EMS officer certification, EMS Leadership Institute, etc. Valid NC Drivers license.

Required Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
    Emergency Medical Science, Business, Healthcare Administration or Equivalent
    Ability to obain through reciprocity within 3 months.

Preferred Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Master's Degree
    Emergency Medical Science, Business, Healthcare Administration or equivalent.


Other Information:

Hearing, speaking and visual acuity are required for effective supervision. Ability to operate an emergency vehicle and the ability to move around numerous physical locations and within a confined area. Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 150 pounds, with assistance and to assume awkward positions in emergency situations. Position may involve exposure to skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
