Catawba County Emergency Medical Services, an innovative and progressive agency, providing a full array of the highest quality pre-hospital care, is currently recruiting for full-time professional Paramedics who are exceedingly motivated and dedicated to serving citizens with outstanding customer service and excellent patient care. With a call volume of more than 29,500 per year, the latest advanced equipment, and an exceptional training program, we offer a welcoming environment in which you can administer pre-hospital medical care to sick and injured patients and continue to grow in your profession. Employees work 12 hour shifts.

*Additional Salary Information:

 Paramedics working 12 hour shifts can expect to earn approximately $46,246.95, which includes scheduled overtime.

 Paramedics with advanced degrees in Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medical Science, or Emergency Medical Care will receive extra pay based on highest degree obtained: Associates ($.25 per hour), Bachelors ($.50 per hour), Masters ($.75 per hour).

 Paramedics who possess a National Registry Paramedic Credential in addition to their North Carolina Paramedic Credential will receive an additional $.25 per hour.

 Paramedic students working at an EMT level on 12 hour shifts can expect to earn approximately $34,505.23, which includes scheduled overtime.


 Shifts available: 12-hour shifts (day and night) as well as 8-hour shifts Monday - Friday.

 Administering pre-hospital medical care and psychological support to sick and injured patients

 Operating emergency vehicles

 Attending continuing education programs to maintain re-certification hours

 Completing electronic patient care reports and other documentation

 Cleaning and restocking ambulances and bases

 Other assigned duties


 Graduation from high school and completion of a Paramedic degree or certification program; and

 Certification by the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services as a Paramedic

 OR

 Graduation from high school and completion of a EMT certification program PLUS currently enrolled in a Paramedic program; and

 Certification by the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services as an EMT.


 A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

 Excellent patient care skills with thorough knowledge of paramedic level emergency medical protocols and ability to properly use appropriate equipment and supplies

 High level of professionalism, integrity, and adherence to policies/procedures

 Dedication to outstanding customer service and community focus

 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with a variety of individuals including citizens, co-workers, managers, hospital staff, and other agencies

 Exceptional initiative and motivation

 Knowledge of the geographical layout of Catawba County

 Working conditions are inside/outside and candidates must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 200 pounds with a partner on a regular basis.


 Prefer applicants with successful completion of ACLS, PALS, and ITLS courses.

 Paramedics who are bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Hmong are encouraged to apply. Extra duty pay for bilingual skills is available upon successful test results.
