With a call volume of more than 29,500 per year, the latest advanced equipment, and an exceptional training program, we offer a welcoming environment in which you can administer pre-hospital medical care to sick and injured patients and continue to grow in your profession. Employees work 12 hour shifts.


*Additional Salary Information:

- Paramedics working 12 hour shifts can expect to earn approximately $44,038.05, which includes scheduled overtime.

- Paramedics with advanced degrees in Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medical Science, or Emergency Medical Care will receive extra pay based on highest degree obtained: Associates ($.25 per hour), Bachelors ($.50 per hour), Masters ($.75 per hour).

- Paramedics who possess a National Registry Paramedic Credential in addition to their North Carolina Paramedic Credential will receive an additional $.25 per hour.



- Shifts available: 12-hour shifts (day and night) as well as 8-hour shifts Monday - Friday.

- Administering pre-hospital medical care and psychological support to sick and injured patients

- Operating emergency vehicles

- Attending continuing education programs to maintain re-certification hours

- Completing electronic patient care reports and other documentation

- Cleaning and restocking ambulances and bases

- Other assigned duties



- Graduation from high school and completion of a Paramedic degree or certification program; and

- Certification by the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services as a Paramedic



- A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

- Excellent patient care skills with thorough knowledge of paramedic level emergency medical protocols and ability to properly use appropriate equipment and supplies

- High level of professionalism, integrity, and adherence to policies/procedures

- Dedication to outstanding customer service and community focus

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with a variety of individuals including citizens, co-workers, managers, hospital staff, and other agencies

- Exceptional initiative and motivation

- Knowledge of the geographical layout of Catawba County

- Working conditions are inside/outside and candidates must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 200 pounds with a partner on a regular basis.



- Prefer applicants with successful completion of ACLS, PALS, and ITLS courses.

- Paramedics who are bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Hmong are encouraged to apply. Extra duty pay for bilingual skills is available upon successful test results.
