WILDERNESS FIRST AID COURSE
OCTOBER 23RD & 24TH - SEATED
Sampson Community College is excited to offer a Wilderness First Aid Course that will create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. This course will be performed in a remote outdoor setting that will better prepare responders in first aid training and will be faced with limited resources, longer times to care for a patient and decisions about when and how fast to evacuate and ill or injured patient. This course will offer 16CEU's
Information-filled slide presentation covering wilderness and remote first aid from a basic understanding of emergency response in an outdoor setting to specific techniques and sonsiderations for a wide range of injuries and illnesses.
Topics Include:
Preparation & Assessment
Caring for Injuries and Illness
Environmental Hazards
Other Wilderness Considerations
Survivial Skills in the Wilderness will be Discussed
This course will begin on October 23rd at 0800 and end on October 24th at 1700. Be prepared to spend the night camping. You will need camping equipment, as this will be a part of the class instruction.
