EMS-4202 – Environmental Emergencies

Hot/Cold, Bugs & Reptiles – OH MY!

February 14, 2022 – February 26, 2022

MOODLE Online CE

Sampson Community College has developed a blend of challenging curriculum, experienced instruction and skills training, all taught in a supportive learning environment.

Environmental emergencies can occur in any setting.  Wildernesses, rural, suburban, and urban areas.  They include exposure to both heat and cold; drownings and other water-related injuries; and bites and stings from insects, spiders, snakes, and marine life.  The keys to effective management are recognizing the patient’s signs and symptoms and providing prompt and proper emergency care.  However, and an EMS provider, you must recognize that exposure may not be the only danger to the patient.  Environmental emergencies can involve preexisting or cause additional medical problems and injuries.
