Accelerated Paramedic Special Operations Course

The Accelerated Paramedic Special Operations course is a 1000-hour class that meets the North Carolina requirements for approval to sit for the NC Paramedic Exam. The course will be held at MTCC and surrounding areas. In addition to the Paramedic curricula the course will introduce the student to Special Operations EMS environments and how to provide emergency medical care in those environments. Special Operations topics include but are not limited to wilderness rescue, disaster medicine and tactical medicine.
Week one will occur mostly in the classroom. After week one the course will consist of online components, in class sessions and field skills. Online components are to be completed on Monday and Tuesdays and are self-paced with completion required before Wednesday. Wednesday through Friday are in field skills sessions which will include variable night/overnight sessions. Saturday and Sunday are generally off days except to complete required clinical/field internship (EMS) sessions.
Successful completion of an EMS field internship (Ambulance ride time) and Clinical experience (Emergency Department) is required and will be scheduled with local EMS services.
Completion of a required Anatomy and Physiology course is required and will be provided within the time span of the course.
The final portion of the class will include a final computer based exam and scenario based skills exams.
