EMT - Emergency Medical Technician, August 11, 2020 - December 19, 2020
The EMT class is designed to introduce students to basic emergency medical care. Topics include preparatory, airway, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma, pediatrics and operations. Upon completion students will be able to demonstrate the knowledge necessary to pass the North Carolina and National Registry EMT Certification Exam. Class meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-10 pm and occasional Saturday's from 9am-6pm.

1) Complete the Program Interest Form and submit to the Public Safety Bldg., Office # 112
2) Provide proof of either college credit for English or provide TABE reading test score
3) Submit a copy of driver's license with the Program Interest Form.

EMS uniform type blue or black pants, black belt, black boots with reinforced toe
and a DCCC EMS shirt (that can be purchased at The Thread Shed in Salisbury, NC)
Student/Course prerequisites: A) 17 years of age on or before the official end date of the course; B) High school diploma or high school equivalent; and proof of basic reading comprehension skills at a minimum of the eleventh grade level.
Students must be in attendance & recorded as present at least once on or before 8/27/2020 to continue with the course.
Students must have a computer that operates on a Windows or Mac operating system, some of the programs used in the course will not operate on other operating systems.
Orientation: 4 Hours, Lecture: 82 Hours, Online Learning: 15 Hours, Testing: 10 Hours, Lab: 104 Hours, Driving: 16 Hours, Field Experience: 48 Hours, for a Total: 279 Hours.
