EMS Leadership Course
Richmond Community College is pleased offer our latest EMS leadership education program. Rather than running this as a single course that cannot be granted tuition exemption we will be running this hybrid educational program in a series of smaller courses. The center piece of the program is a 72 hour online course that will be offered in two 6 week sessions with 6 hours per week of time awarded. Session 2 will start the week after session 1 completes. Seated classes will be PEPL, PTEP, AHDR, EMS Safety Course and a two day preceptor course. Professional Ethics and Personal Leadership (PEPL) and the preceptor workshop are two day courses. Psychological Trauma in EMS Patients (PTEP), All Hazards Diseaster Response (AHDR), and EMS Safety are all one day classes. Start time for all seated days will be 0900.
The goal of the program is to prepare EMS providers desiring to advance to management positions by providing them with the knowledge of basic administrative and personnel aspects of supervision as well as prepare them to successfully manage EMS operations in a safe and effective manner. Specifically this program is designed to prepare EMS field providers to function successfully as an FTO or Shift Supervisor.
