Johnston Community College is offering a semester-long Advanced Emergency Medical Technician class that meets all NCOEMS and National EMS Education Standards.
The student will complete a total of 200 didactic (lecture) & psychomotor lab (hands-on) hours and 107 clinical (field/hospital) hours. Students attend class on Tuesday’s from 8:30 a.m. -5:30 p.m. The course includes occasional weekend per the course schedule. The AEMT certificate course start on August 31, 2021
Course Prerequisites:
The following prerequisites must be met prior to registration:

High School Diploma or GED.

Credentialed as NC EMT or have successfully completed a recent NC EMT Initial course and awaiting credentialing.

Current Healthcare AHA Provider BLS card.

Successful completion of a placement test assessing reading comprehension, English language skills and mathematical skills on the post-secondary level. Students who submit proper documentation can be exempt from placement testing showing successful completion level English and Math. Testing can be scheduled immediately by contacting:

Fire & EMS personnel must be listed on an official Johnston County agency roster. Provide a copy of the current roster at registration.

Out-Of-County Fire and EMS personnel must provide a letter on official department letter head that includes documentation of active membership, position and that this course is necessary for your job.
