PCEMS Community Paramedic

Pasquotank-Camden EMS is currently seeking applicants for a pre-hospital care provider to join our rapidly growing Community Partnership Paramedicine Division. Duties will include providing primary care and/or advanced life support including medical evaluations, treatment and stabilization of the chronically ill and injured with the goal of reducing hospital readmissions, high utilizers and morbidity. Chosen candidate will work supporting existing health services, providing integrated health services in partnership with other health professionals, extending access to health services delivered in the underserved and general populations in areas of primary care, public health, disease management/prevention, wellness and mental health. Community Paramedic will work a schedule consisting of Monday-Friday from 0800-1700.  

Considered one of the “Best Places to Live on the Coast”, Elizabeth City is a growing coastal community centrally located in northeastern North Carolina, adjacent to the Coastal Outer Banks of NC and Metropolitan Hampton Roads area of VA. The city known as the Harbor of Hospitality is home to Elizabeth City State University, Mid- Atlantic Christian University, and the nation's largest US Coast Guard base, Air Station Elizabeth City which is responsible for numerous search/rescue missions each year throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Applicants must have: 1) High School Diploma or G.E.D.; 2) Current pre-hospital certification at the Paramedic level by NCOEMS or ability to obtain through reciprocity; 3) Minimum of 2 years of experience as a functioning Paramedic; 4) Possession of a valid driver’s license; 5) Good physical agility and ability to perform duties; 6) Ability to pass local medical board, if necessary & provide documentation of continuing education hours for verification; 7) Current course completions preferred in PHTLS, PALS, ACLS, & Basic Life Support (CPR).

Pre- employment background check, drug screen and driving record checks will be performed.

Hiring Ranges (based on current fiscal year):

Paramedic: $37,626 - $53,162 other benefits include paid training, BCBS health insurance, compensatory/vacation/sick time, local government retirement, optional dental/vision/disability insurance availabilities.
