EMS Training Coordinator Cape Fear Community College- Wilmington, NC

DEFINITION:

To lead, oversee, and participate in the work of faculty and staff responsible for providing classroom and laboratory instructional services to EMS students, and to perform a variety of administrative and technical tasks relative to the Continuing Education EMS Training Program area.

 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives, establish schedules and methods for providing EMS training programs, implement policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the administration of the EMS program budget, submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
  • Negotiate and acquire necessary off-campus training facilities as required for EMS courses.
  • Ensure compliance of the College's EMS program with state code regarding EMS training.
  • Monitor and enforce program compliance with laws, rules, and regulations related to safety in EMS classes.
  • Maintain records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and data bases according to program needs, accreditation requirements, and North Carolina Office of Medical Services (NC OEMS) requirements, and ensures compliance with accreditation  COAEMSP/CAAHEP
  • Develop class outlines and establish guidelines for various courses; prepare lesson plans and supplemental teaching materials; schedule classroom activities,
  • Participate in a variety of student-related administrative activities including reviewing admission requirements, progress and qualifications for course completion; may participate in recommending graduates for employment and various licensing requirements.
  • Lead, plan, provide training to, and review the work of faculty responsible for providing classroom instruction and laboratory demonstration services related to EMS courses.
  • Lead, supervise, plan, provide training to, and review the work of staff responsible for providing administrative support related to EMS courses.
  • Lead and participate in curriculum development; research and develop new courses and areas of study; participate in systematic program evaluation.
  • Act as an advisor to students and faculty: participate in student recruitment efforts.
  • Remain up-to-date with new developments and changes in the EMS field; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars and other programs as appropriate.
  • Submit book orders for EMS courses; inventory department equipment and supplies annually.
  • Evaluate and maintain accurate records to ensure all faculty possess appropriate certifications and qualifications for courses of study offered.

 

Minimum Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Healthcare-related field preferred)
  • Current Level II Paramedic Instructor certification or qualification through the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Service.  Must meet current qualifications to become a School Director, or Qualified Assistant as needed
  • Certified instructor in ACLS, PALS, BLS & PHTLS

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ experience as a Paramedic
