The Clinical Quality Manager will oversee the quality management program for the EMS department. This individual will work directly with the EMS Director and Medical Director to recognize successes and areas for improvement in the levels of care provided. The qualified individual will work with all players in the EMS system to ensure the highest level of care is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Working as a proactive team member with EMS including; all system providers, the director, medical director, training officer, operations director, and supervisors.
  • Coordinating the peer review process for the Alamance County EMS System. This will include preparing presentations and working with the Medical Director to set agendas for quarterly peer review meetings.
  • Reviewing EMS Prehospital Care records to monitor for both individual and system successes and areas needing improvement.
  • Collecting and reporting data monthly, quarterly and yearly as requested by the EMS Director and Medical Director. This will include both data at the individual, shift, service and system wide levels.
  • Working with other quality management specialists from the communications center, fire departments, hospitals and other partnering agencies to ensure quality service is delivered.
  • Attend STEMI, Trauma, Stroke and other regular meetings to review data and performance from EMS and hospital systems.
  • Updating the CARES Registry weekly to ensure the most up-to-date cardiac arrest data is available for review.
  • Works with EMS Supervisors, Operations Manager, the Medical Director, and others to investigate complaints concerning clinical care.
  • Ensures compliance concerning HIPPA and other privacy rules for Alamance County EMS.
  • Periodically responding to calls to observe and assist with care as it is being delivered.
  • Assist in the management of the prehospital call reporting software (ESO).
  • Work in conjunction with the EMS Training Officer to develop individual or system wide just-in-time trainings when deficiencies are noted.
  • Though not the primary job function, must be able to provide and assist in on scene medical care as a highly competent paramedical level provider within the Alamance EMS System.
  • Serving as an expert in understanding and advising EMS providers, as well as other providers (such as rescue or fire services) in understanding and adhering to clinical care protocols and policies.
  • Travel (as approved by the EMS Director) to national, state-wide, and local EMS conferences and trainings.
  • Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service.
  • Will be expected to perform other assignments and projects as needed and trained to support the operations of EMS.
