Come join us as we continue to serve the diverse citizens of Catawba County and surrounding counties with a tradition of pride, innovation, and excellence!  Catawba County EMS is recruiting for full-time Paramedics.  As a Paramedic, you will administer skilled ALS medical care to injured and sick citizens. 


Shifts to be determined.


*Salary:  Paramedics working 12 hour shifts can expect to earn approximately $41,948.93, which includes scheduled overtime. 



  • Administering ALS medical care to sick and injured citizens
  • Driving an ambulance
  • Rendering BLS care and physiological support to patients
  • Attending continuing education programs to maintain re-certification hours
  • Processing paperwork regarding patients
  • Cleaning and restocking ambulances and bases
  • Other assigned duties



  • Graduation from high school and completion of a paramedic degree or certification program 
  • Certification by the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services as a Paramedic


  • Students currently enrolled in a two-year paramedic program may apply. (To be considered, applicants must indicate enrollment in Paramedic program on application.)  Position may be available at an intern (trainee) level with a flexible workweek of 32 hours for students. 



  • A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Thorough knowledge of paramedic level emergency medical policies/procedures




  • Ability to properly use appropriate equipment and supplies
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service
  • Knowledge of the geographical layout of Catawba County
  • Working conditions are inside/outside and candidates must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 200 pounds on a regular basis.  Some situations may require heavier weights. 



  • Prefer applicants with successful completion of ACLS, PALS, and BTLS courses.
  • Applicants with bilingual skills are encouraged to apply.
