Cabarrus County EMS Full Time Paramedic

Cabarrus County EMS will be accepting applications for the following positions:  Full Time Paramedic. Applicant must hold a current North Carolina EMS credential or be eligible for reciprocity in North Carolina. EMT candidates currently enrolled in paramedic school may be considered. Applications open September 29, 2017 with a closing date of October 13, 2017. Applications will not be accepted until date of opening. An assessment center will be conducted for selected candidates.

Cabarrus EMS is a progressive EMS system which provides extremely advanced care to the population of 197,000 and provides coverage for major spectator events.  The service responded to 32,161 calls in 2016 with an average response time of 7.2 minutes.  The agency currently deploys 12 paramedic units and community paramedics. The system is involved in many areas to improve patient care such as community education and advanced cardiac/stroke programs.  The service operates under a liberal set of patient care protocols that include RSI, adult intraosseous, 12 Lead EKG, capnography, CPAP, spinal clearance, QCPR, TXA, and digital EKG transmission with transports directly to the cath lab.  Cardiac arrest ROSC and survival to discharge rates are some of the best in the nation. Cabarrus EMS also provides medics for specialty response teams and fields a NC SMAT III team.  The agency has been a county service since its inception in 1973.  Employees receive holiday time, vacation time, and sick leave along with participation in the NC Local Government Retirement System and 401K with employer contributions. Employees also receive paid continuing education in local courses. Additionally, the service offers a competitive insurance package, life insurance, an employee health clinic and the availability of dental insurance and dependent insurance. The agency provides paid membership for employees in the NC Association of Rescue and EMS. Employees work 12 hour shifts. Entry level full time paramedics are compensated at $37,294 plus overtime (time and one-half). The hiring range for paramedics with experience and advanced education is $37,294-$40,996.
