Advanced EMT - PCTS Cape Fear Hospital Wilmington, NC

The Advanced EMT provides high quality patient care and safe medical transport to sick and injured patients in all age groups, primarily in a non-emergent setting. Patient care will be consistent with approved treatment protocols. The Advanced EMT communicates and coordinates the patient's care in an interdisciplinary model. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Initiates a BLS- or AEMT-level plan of care based on patient assessment and significant other input/data. Continuously reviews and revises plan as needed per patient's condition. Maintains thorough patient care documentation
  • Operates and maintains the vehicle in a safe, efficient manner, obeying all traffic laws. Properly inspects the vehicle and initiates appropriate actions based on inspections. Maintains ambulance in a continuous state of readiness
  • Completes daily base duties as well as all mandatory education/training. Stays current with NHRMC and department specific communications (i.e. emails, staff meetings, communication boards, etc.)
  • Promotes team effort and unity when working with Communications Center, other members of NHRMC and external organizations
  • Annually continues personal development to enhance practice and profession.
  • Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently, completing all paperwork within required time frames
  • Will occasionally provide backup service to the Field Operations Division, which may include participation in the MCI plan
  • May perform moderate or waived point of care testing per CLIA guidelines
  • Consistently demonstrates professional behavior and performs proactive interventions which support the Mission, Vision and Values of NHRMC and this department
  • Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Successful completion of an accepted EMT program
  • Current North Carolina Advanced EMT (EMT-Intermediate prior to 2017)
  • BCLS required. ACLS, PALS and ITLS or PHTLS preferred
  • Current and valid North Carolina driver's license required and must meet the requirements of the medical center's insurance carrier
  • Must meet general hospital driving requirements
  • Annual EVO education is required to drive during emergency situations
  • Minimum of one-year experience with a paid emergency services provider preferred
