Wilderness First Aid Course at Rockingham Community College

Duke Energy TRAILS at RCC will be offering a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course in partnership with Landmark Learning, an affiliate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), this Spring on April 27-28.

This fast paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations to prepare for the unexpected.  It will introduce participants to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care.  Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge students to integrate their learning.  At the end of the course, class participants will have the knowledge, skills and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. Click here for additional information.

The cost is $215/person, No Fee Exemption.  Certificates will be awarded to all participants.  You can register online under the RCC Continuing Education/Online Registration tabs on our website (search for the key word "wilderness" or course code number SEF-7182-01).  You may also call 336-342-4261 ext. 2011 to register.

A couple of local hotels, Hampton Inn, Eden and Holiday Inn and Suites, Reidsville, are offering a special rate ($72 + tax) for TRAILS program students.  You will need to call the hotel directly, and tell them you are with the Rockingham Community College TRAILS program.  Please let me know if you have any trouble getting this rate.  Cabins and tent camping are available at Camp GuilRock.  For additional information, please contact the Camp Director (campguilrock@gmail.com) at 336-342-1951.
