EMS Instructor Methodology

This course must follow the guidelines established by the NC Office of EMS and must follow the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors (2002 or subsequent amendments) as the official outline meeting the Instructor Methodology Course requirement for credentialing as a NC OEMS Level I Instructor. This course will provide students who are clinically competent in a specific EMS content area with the instructional knowledge, resources, and skills to effectively deliver quality EMS education.  

Prerequisite(s):

  1. High school diploma or High School Equivalency certificate AND verify or demonstrate their ability to read and write at the 11th grade proficiency level.
  2. Currently credentialed in North Carolina as an EMT, AEMT or Paramedic
  3. Have 3 years of equivalent field experience at their scope of practice credential level.

This is a hybrid course offered 05/25/20 – 07/19/20

On Campus:

Students must attend the in-person sessions held at Piedmont Community College Caswell Campus to present the required course presentations. Attendance at these sessions is mandatory. Students must attend 6/23 or 6/25 AND 7/14 or 7/16.
