Community Paramedicine Course

Beaufort County Community College will launch its first official Community Paramedicine course on Feb 4th. A pilot course was ran during the fall semester of 2018 as we developed the course. This course will cover the Community Health Paramedicine topics from the book published by JB Learning as well as other topics related to community paramedicine. The course will run 96 hours with 80 online and 16 classroom hours. The classroom hours are set on 2 Saturdays from 8am-5pm where topics and skills such as lung & heart sounds, wound care/cultures, trach care, PICC line care/access, Blood Culture collection, and Lovenox injections will be covered. Lectures and skills on Saturdays will be taught by Nurse Practitioner's, CCRN's, and Respiratory Therapist! Lab values with relations to the chronic disease you will see in the field will be a focus throughout the course.

Requirements for the course are:

1- Hold a valid NC or NR Paramedic Certification

2- A minimum of 1 year functioning as a field paramedic

3- Have interenet access with the ability to Skype or use Blackboard Collaborate if needed

Once you successfully completet he course, BCCC staff will assist you in registering for the Certified Community Paramedic (CP-C) exam offered through IBSC & BCCTPC.
