Certificate Paramedic Course - Johnston Community College

Description: The Certificate Paramedic Program is a year-long course divided into two divisions. Each division includes didactic, lab and clinical hours. Students attend a shift-friendly schedule meaning classes meet once a week, either Monday or Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Course includes occasional weekend classes and weekly mandatory classes per course schedule.

Requirements:

1) High School Diploma or GED; 2) Credentialed as NC EMT or have successfully completed a recent NC EMT Initial course and waiting credentialing; 3) Current Healthcare AHA Provider BLS card; 4) Successful completion of a placement test assessing reading comprehension, English language skills and mathematical skills on the post-secondary level. Students who submit proper documentation can be exempt from placement testing. Tests are scheduled through EMS Coordinator after submission of an application packet.

Co-Requisite: (Must be completed before the program ends) 1) Completion of EMS 3000; 2) Anatomy and Physiology or equivalent course.
